Esoteric stuff:

About the song: I was inspired by a lack of Winter weather in northern California. I was born & raised in central Penn. I chose the song because it inspired Bob Alman to do the whole CD project and it seemed wrong not to play it for the CD. It’s also one of my better songs.

Lyrics:

Ankle deep in the drifting snow I can smell the burning wood

Home is a far as I want to go and I’m taking longer than I should

And the wind whispers through the trees

And the clouds huddle close to the Earth

On winter nights like these

Home makes you realize it’s worth

Chorus: I can already feel the fire, yes I can feel the fire

The snow comes down as the flames grow higher

Drifting by the fire

I can already feel the fire, yes I can feel the fire

Sleep comes down as the snow piles higher

Drifting by the fire

I’ve wandered far and away from you on some long and lonely night

I often wonder how you knew that I would figure you were right

So tonight I’m coming home for good

I can see the chimney through the trees

I can smell the sweetly burning wood

Oh you keep a flame in side of me

(Chorus)

I would crawl through a Winter’s night just for a simple cup of tea

To look at you in candle light and hold you close to me

So tonight I’m coming home for good

I can see the chimney through the trees

I can smell the apple in the wood

Kristen, keep a light on for me
